Beginning in the second half of 2020, the domestic new energy vehicle market will usher in a “rebirth of nirvana”, and electrification has become the general trend. In the second half of 2020, the domestic market gradually got out of the haze of the epidemic in the first half of the year. Combined with the introduction of various policies to promote the consumption of new energy vehicles, the sales of domestic new energy vehicles in July 2020 turned from negative to positive for the first time since the past 12 months, and the year-on-year growth increased by June’s -32% jumped to +23%. Since then, the strong growth of domestic new energy vehicle sales has continued to this day. Among them, the domestic sales of new energy vehicles in 2021 will be as high as 3.5 million, a year-on-year increase of 165%, far exceeding the 2-2.2 million expected by the market at the beginning of 2021. In 2022, the strong growth momentum will continue. From January to June, except for April, which was affected by the epidemic, the year-on-year growth rate of sales fell to 45%, and the year-on-year growth rate in the rest of the months remained above 100%. The cumulative sales in the first half of the year reached nearly 200. million, a year-on-year increase of 117%.
In contrast, the overall domestic auto sales continued to shrink after a brief recovery from the 2020 epidemic to early 2021. Overall domestic sales in 2021 will only increase by about 5% year-on-year, and cumulative sales from January to June 2022 will shrink by 7% year-on-year. The sales penetration rate of new energy vehicles has increased significantly. It has risen rapidly from less than 5% in July 2020 to nearly 24% currently.
